whatever the longing...

i just left work & as i approached the first of two stoplights that make up my route home, a subtle but serious feeling of loneliness struck me.
it was then that the truth interjected: "i need Jesus."

it may be a simple truth, but i think i just realized that all of my longings are symptoms of that - unsurpassable, indeniable, deep void - which only He can fill. sure, i've known that i need Jesus for a long long long time. yet too often i start to think that my momentary needs, desires, or whatever distractions i face are separate from my need for Jesus. but they're not.

i remember numerous times where i have been severely irritated by someone [in particular] telling me to go to God, but now i see that there's no better advice. when i sensed a condescending tone, maybe it was more accurately a prideful spirit on the receiving end. so sorry to the one i scoffed at; you were right. He is Right.

enough seeking whatever else, it's time to refocus.
"Yet I am always with You; You hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
- Psalm 73:23-26
